Event Description:

This event will show you how to make the most of the latest digital platforms including blogs, Facebook and of course… Twitter. It will also take you through case studies of charities effectively using social media platforms to connect with donors and volunteers and to raise their profile.

 

Here's what you'll learn:

How you can use these networks to grow and nurture a community, raise awareness and funds, and harness the enthusiasm of your supporters. 

No previous knowledge required.

 

Cost: $35 for CCN members; $45 for non-members (includes breakfast)

Melinda Van Patter, Client Relations Manager, Marketwire

In her role with Marketwire, Melinda works not-for-profits and charities and is a leading expert in effectively using social media as a promotional tool. 

Kirstin Beardsley, Marketing & Communications Coordinator, CanadaHelps

CanadaHelps provides affordable, secure and easy to use online fundraising solutions to charities, and is itself a registered charity. The mission of CanadaHelps is to engage Canadians in the charitable sector, providing accessible and affordable online technology to both donors and charities to promote – and ultimately increase – charitable giving in Canada. In her role with CanadaHelps, Kirstin provides training and resources about the effective use of online tools and social media for nonprofit organizations in Canada. 

Celina Agaton, Communications and Cross-Sector Community Partnerships

Celina is an advocate for social technology and sustainable partnerships for community organizations. She developed a program to provide low cost and free technology tools and program resources to support Volunteer Toronto’s community of 400 non-profit organizations. In 2009 Celina founded Films That Move, a free social change film series that helps people connect and collaborate in their communities.

She speaks to community groups about the benefits of social innovation and cross-sector collaboration. Celina has 10 years of experience in communications and is a contributor to the sequel to Wikinomics: HowMass Collaboration Changes Everything.
